What is Keybuster.com ?
Keybuster.com is a Key Provider. 
Imagine it as an application that creates, stores and validates keys. The primary focus for Keybuster.com is on software key licensing towards software developers. 

Developing software takes time and energy and a developer often want to know:

  who is using my software and when
  is that user registrered and/or did he pay for the software

We provide the KeyBuster environment so that you can focus on the main core of
your application. You do not only save time on the implementation of your licensing structure, 
but once using Keybuster you also have instant access to: statistical information on your keys, monitoring usage of your keys, management concurrent users per key, update checking of your software and you profit from our server integrated security issues.

For example you can use keys to check & license Internet pages, video's or stand-alone application.

There is no focus in particular: keys can be used for all types of content:

  • stand-alone applications (accounting software, website subscription pages etc.)
  • software modules as part of larger whole
  • physical entities which are connected to Internet (PDA, Gameconsole, Mobile Phone etc)
  • streaming content (video, audio)
  • voting and polling
  • confidential one-time-only content (f. e. "this message will destruct itself in 3 seconds")
  • security validation file transfers (files that require 2 or more keys before it can be opened)

What can i do with it ?
You can create software keys in order to validate your customers, your documents, your files & software in order to protect, to license or to restrict that in any way you want. 
In particular we developed this service to license individual software (pieces). Among others, we take care of: creation of the keys, protecting those keys, validate key request from clients/users.
We refer to the case studies and examples.


How do i embed the Key in my software?
The referal to the key is 1 line of code. We provide examples of that code which can be seen once you created a log-in.
You can start distributing your software once you embedded a key. When a user wishes to buy the software, he pays you for your software and you activate the key on Keybuster. Then the application is activated.


How much does a Keybuster.com Key cost ?
In october 2005 we introduced FREE keys called 'trial-only keys'

These trail-only keys have the following features:

  • valid for 30days after activation (or 100 executions or a combination of both)
  • create unlimited free keys
  • if trial-only keys are renewed, their expiration period is adjusted to match 365 days from the last access.
  • renewal of a trail key can only be done through payment
  • they behave as usual

If you want to renew a key or create a key that is valid a whole year the cost are 2 euro.

It is your choice if you want to use that one key for ALL your customers or for only one. 
For ALL your software applications or one key per application etc.: that is your choice.

You can use 1 active key for 1 whole year after activation maximum. If you set the expiration period of a key below that maximum of 1 year, the key will expire of course at that entered enddate.

This does mean that if you have keys that are NOT active, those will always be available and those will not expire. After that you can extend it as many times as you like for the same amount.

For what can i use it ?
If you are planning to release new software or planning a new release for which you want some sort of feedback (for example: payment, usage, version updates) we recommond you plan a license strategy. (Read more about that in the case studies section)

With the Keybuster.com key management functions you can decide which and how  the key fits in your strategy. Maintain those keys on-line and enable or disable a key at any moment.

You can embed the key in a Javascript snippet, which validated your ingenius script and the page/application does not function without a valid key. Or embed the key in your executable, dll, .NET application etc. and check the validation of the key. Your application decides what happens when the key is valid or invalid.

Even when you provide your code under the GPL license or variants, there are moments you want to have some contact with your users. For example to see how many times your code is accessed or when you provide an update for example.

If you tailor made software for your client and the source code is included in the deal it does not always mean he can change all parts freely. Perhaps there are copyrighted routines, or perhaps you handed over the code but payment is pending. You could easily include a line that refers to a Keybuster Key and make the extra touch you need:

Usage examples could be triggering your application on a certain date for version update, verifying the user licence, verifying the number of concurrent users, verifying coherent multiple active keys, but licensing applications is our main focus.


How do i start?  
First create a login and enter you personal information.
Buy a minimum key package or use the free trail key for your first experiment. Activate the key and enter a specific date & date or let it as default. Press the "test key" link and see what happens. Go back to the setup of that key and deactivate the key. Press the "test key" link again and see what happens. Right, that's it. You can now see the "help" page or "example codes" to see how you embed the code in your html, php, asp, aspx, .net or whatever project or application you have in mind.


What is your surplus?
Keybuster provides the highest level of security for the authorization and protection of your software products. Providing the most user-friendly and cheapest solution available, by only a few clicks away. All you have to do is log in, create a key, copy some lines of code and ready you are.


Do you handle payment services ?
 For example when a user wants to buy our software with his credit card?
NO. Keybuster does not provide payment services. You need to implement the payment transaction yourself or use the settings of your Key to refer those users to the payment service of your choice. We could recommend using a search engine and typing "credit card processing" or "online payment". If you need help programming or help with the integration of a payment service you can always contact us.


My software is not always on-line. Is there a solution?
Yes. Keybuster keys work for applications even without an active Internet connection for a long time. The connection period can be set either in client software, or by the embedded code. In the latter case, new settings have effect from the latest connection onwards. 


How can 1 line of code protect my software? 
Is there any additional software required ?
No, you do NOT need any additional software. Not on your developer machine and not on the user's end. That single line of code that you add to your software refers to the key on our server. Our server checks the key and the response and validates if the user may run your application and what to do next.


When does a key expire and what happens?
When a key is created it has an activation date. On that date it becomes active unless you decide otherwise in the mean time. When a key is active the settings can not be changed, except you can disable and enable it. A key that once was active but then expired will remain on our server for ever, for free. Unused keys, keys that never became active, can be re-used whenever you want


Who is Keybuster ?
Keybuster is a small firm with two offices, one in the Netherlands and one in Italy. Our main focus originally was Internet and Encryption services. Those two combined resulted in this amazing easy service. Our customers are mainly governmental and big companies who would like a low media profile. Why should i use it?
To make money on a professional license structure or 
or to follow the usage on your software
or to restrict access to your software.


How does it work ?
A more detailed description can be found on this site, but roughly it works like this: Let's assume you made a VB or C++ program and your compiled it and want to distribute it as freeware, as shareware or even distribute it under the GPU license. You do that, cause you would like it, if interested users in you software want a version of your software you could have some earnings. Just copy the code-example you will find on our site, or modify that code, and put it into the startup module of your application. 

That line of code would be like: "if www.keybuster.com/key=1234567890 = TRUE then continue"

That's it. The "Not TRUE" or "False"part you already entered on our server so you do not have to worry about anything else. Our server will redirect a user that has no rights, or even when they try to do something illegal on our server or with your application, to a page you entered during the creation of your key.


I have a customer for my application, he has to pay me first, 
before i activate the application. How do i do that ?
Let us write clearly here: Keybuster does NOT perform payments or payment authorisations.
We provide the keys and the licensing model on-line. For the actual payment of your software you will need to use a Third Party Payment server such as Paypal or a Credit Card processing server or perform such yourselve. Assuming your customer paid for your  software, you can now activate the application for him by activating and enabling the embeded key.


We need a whole bunch of licenses & keys,  
is there another way than entering them on the site?
Yes, there are several tools that we thought off. Currently we offer the creation of Bulk keys. With that function you can create many keys by 1 click. Since we are still examing what the best and most acceptable tool would look like and what flexibility the keys/lisenses must poses, we would like you to contact sales about this, so we can discuss what the best suitable solution for you would be. Currently we have un-released version of an off-line tool which can create & maintain a batch of keys and uploads that to Keybuster.com. Also we are developing a similar thing in XML where one can maintain keys as well.


A Summary

  • You buy a key valid for 12 months for only 2 euro
  • Once created the keys will remain on our server forever, for free
  • You do Not have to wrestle with hardware keys or "dongles"
  • There is only 1 line of code to write.
  • When a license expired you receive automatic notice from our server.
  • We do not spam or get in contact with your customers, in any way.
  • You can see how many times an application has checked the key on our server, when it authorized the user and when it failed
  • When a user wishes to buy your software, he pays you and you pay us for the key and activate the key.
  • You do not have to write complicated routines such as key generation or encryption routines
  • When a key expired you can redirect the user to the Internet page or your choice
  • You do not have to use complicated Licensing server utilities from third parties
  • The Keybuster software keys are safely stored, and yet, you do not have to worry about the protection of your software
  • You can create as many keys you want per customer. You can use 1 key for all
    your customers, or many keys for 1 customer
